There are many ways you can help the Burdekin Assocation this Christmas – you might have a few ideas of your own or we have listed some over on our Community Fundraising page. But given it is the festive time of year we’ve thought of a few extra special ways to fundraise.
Make it easy, make it fun and people might only be too happy to jump on board to help you.
There are currently 105,237 people in Australia who are homeless. Government currently pays for a child until they turn 18, after that they must finance and support themselves. We know that leaving care before a young person is ready for independence leads to poor outcomes and potential mental health issues.
This year our Christmas appeal asks you to help us to continue to give young people the support they need past the age of 18. We need an additional $150-$300 per week per young person exiting care to ensure a smooth transition into independent living.
